- Sub: MVC session in phoenix
-
- I need to gauge the amount of interest out there in having an MVC/MacApp
- session at our upcoming MacApp conference in Phoenix. I know there IS interest;
- the question is HOW MUCH.
-
- We’ve already tentatively scheduled an informal, Birds of a Feather session
- on MVC for Monday evening. Birds of a Feather sessions are basically
- opportunities for developers to get together in a fairly small group, to sit
- down and rather informally shoot the breeze on a particular technical topic.
-
- If there’s a LOT of interest out there (Jeff Algers suggests 20 bodies or
- more), it might be better to schedule a more formal session as part of our
- regular three-day Workshop and Tutorial schedule and have an expert deal with
- the subject in a more rigorous fashion.
-
- So what are the differences? One’s free; one ain’t. One’s somewhat formal;
- one ain’t. One’s fairly limited in size; one ain’t. And one’s more
- participatory, with a lot of sharing of experience, while the other is more
- leader-directed and pedagogically oriented (tho I’m not so sure about the
- latter distinction).
-
- I will mention that MVC is going to be covered to SOME degree in at least
- two sessions we’re going to be running on databases and MacApp, but will not be
- the main thrust of those sessions.
-
- Ergo the simple question: how many people out there have an interest in MVC
- and would attend a session on it? And of those, how many would prefer to get
- together in a formal workshop setting rather than an informal BOAF one (or vice
- versa)?
-
- I’d appreciate any thoughts you might have. Please link me directly on this
- one.
-
- Many thanks,
-
